“John Geci prefers to think of glass as static motion. His simple yet distinctive vases illuminate the tension between dynamic and static, even bridging the gap between the two. Through “using primarily transparent colors and a few well-placed stripes,” Geci writes that his “pieces highlight the material’s transparency, fluidity, and potential for brilliant coloration.” Geci is a returning Winter Show artist and his works are available regularly in the shop. Examples of his new Merleto vessels will be showcased in Winter Show.
John Geci lives in Western North Carolina with his wife potter Courtney Martin near The Penland School of Crafts. He realized his love for glassblowing while pursuing an undergraduate degree at Hartwick College. He is known for his vibrant glass vases and his work can be found in galleries across the country. “
