To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first NASCAR Grand National Stock-Car Race held at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 1949, Green Hill Center for North Carolina Art featured an exhibition of NASCAR-inspired work by over 30 artists. From the Curator's Statement: "Visual artists communicate aspects of the world around us in ways not possible to other media. This exhibition creates for artists an opportunity to reflect on an area of our culture, so rapidly expanding, that has not yet been interpreted with a critical visual eye." - Roger P. Halligan
