INFLUENCE | JUNE 2- JUNE 30
Influence is an annual collaborative exhibition between GreenHill and Art Alliance Greensboro presenting recent work of 14 influential instructors and highlighting their wide variety of style and expertise in the mediums of ceramics, sculpture, fiber, and two-dimensional work.
Art Alliance Greensboro and GreenHill are both located in the Greensboro Cultural Center in the heart of the Cultural District and this is the second time the two organizations will partner for this exhibition. Together, Liz Busch, Programs Director at Art Alliance Greensboro and Toni Tronu, Shop Manager + Registrar at GreenHill realized an instructor show would be a perfect partnership. Toni explains, “We both focus on regional North Carolina art and artists, so GreenHill seemed the perfect fit to exhibit these influential instructors. The idea had me reminiscing about being a student and viewing faculty shows. The work I saw put my life as an artist in perspective; it was encouragement that I too could be a professional artist.”
Art Alliance Greensboro started in 1998 with the mission of providing quality visual art experiences at an affordable price. The instructors are local and regional artists, well trained in their fields, teaching a variety of creative classes and workshops, which range from pottery and sculpture to drawing and painting. Liz says, “Their work is important to highlight not just because it is worthy of being exhibited but it is the foundation of their talents as instructors and mentors. They are not only working artists but also working educators, leading community workshops and teaching at local colleges and universities, such as UNC-G, A&T and Guilford College. I felt that the shop at GreenHill was the perfect setting to celebrate these North Carolina artists.”
Opening Reception will be during June First Friday: 6-7:30 PM in the shop at GreenHill. Additionally, an artist talk and demonstration will take place on June 28th from 6:30-7:30 PM in the Art Alliance Fine Arts Studio (room 127 of the Greensboro Cultural Center).
Exhibiting artists: Jim Barnhill, Kathryn Gauldin, Mavis Ligget, Tristin Miller, Jack Stratton, Brooke Avery, L.T. Hoisington, Annie Klick, Ray Knirs, Susan O’Leary, Lorrie Price, Patrick Rowe, Curry Wilkinson, and Ben Winslow.
