Can you tell us how you got started in jewelry making?
I went to East Carolina University and took a survey class that was in the first half wood, 2nd half metal/jewelry. When I started the Jewelry section, I knew it was what I wanted to do. Working in Metal can be a solo or group venture, it has lots of problem solving and has great flexibility in techniques!
What is your favorite part about your trade?
My favorite part is learning something new. Experimentation never stops!
What was your inspiration and vision for the Beach Glass collection?
I collect seashells and started finding infrequently pieces of beach glass. I slowly started building a collection. At that point I learned how to drill the holes-which is not easy. Each side of the beach glass I drill 3 times, to make sure I do not ruin it. As to my vision-I love seeing it when it moves and has the ability for light to pass through it. It seems to come alive for me at that point, which is quite fulfilling!
